Working collaboratively with University City’s Municipal Arts and Letters commission, three undergraduate students in the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts have installed art sculptures in three University City parks. Sunday’s reception will feature artists' talks and culminate in a walk to the nearby art installations in Heman Park, Ackert Park, and Lewis Park.  This year’s program was led by Arny Nadler, associate professor and sculpture area coordinator.

Initiated in 1986, the collaboration between the Sam Fox School and the Municipal Commission on Arts & Letters of University City is the longest-running partnership of its type in the U.S.

Sutter-Meyer Farmhouse Birthday Bash

June 3rd | 10am - 4pm

6826 Chamberlain Court

The Sutter-Meyer Farmhouse, the little white-painted brick house at 6826 Chamberlain Court, is thought to be the oldest building in University City.  The year the Sutter-Meyer House was built is not known for certain, but it was probably about 1873.

The only possible rival for the title of oldest surviving house in University City is the small building at 8200 Olive.  It may be the house sold to William Englert in 1873, but it has been so altered that only the overall shape remains to suggest its age.  By contrast, the Sutter-Meyer House has been very little changed over the years and still looks much as it did when built by William Sutter.
